Watched three episodes, somehow doesn't seem to work for me. I think it was meant as a horror series, judging from the sparse dialog and the really quiet music.
The story is similar to Mononoke, but since has no distinct visual style and actual horror then it ends up being a bit boring. Oh well, will push on.

Ayakashi
Overall score: 7
Bad side: since the arcs were all done by different people then the animation style and the animation itself weren't always what you'd hope them to be.

Good side:
- the stories had nothing to do with each other so every time you had the nice feeling of anticipation because you had no idea what's going to happen.
- They different styles were rather refreshing
- The opening song is bloody addictive and the opening was redrawn for each arc so that all-an-all it would be the same but the elements in it would be ones that had something to do with the current arc.

Mononoke
watched episodes 1-2 and I love it more than a sea of Ichimoku Rens!
The drawings are breathtaking, the story is creepy, there is only one character that doesn't change and the background sounds are of the kind I'd personally go to bed with.
The art reminds me of somebody gone happy on the Scandinavian folklore, but at the same time it's feudal japan, which is good since Japanese have a weird turn when depicting anything foreign of an era gone by.
I think I'm going to love it more than Jigoku Shoujo, for one thing the main character is colourful, male with a nice sexy voice but still retains all of his creepiness.
The opening is something I would like to be mummified in.
